Last weekend the Urban Roots Teaching Farm was filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the kind of joy that comes when moms get a chance to truly unwind. Our Moms & Margs event turned into a perfect evening of chocolate, creativity, and cocktails, all set against the familiar charm of the teaching farm.
The night began with a sweet adventure guided by Dorinda’s Chocolates. Guests dipped strawberries into silky chocolate, crafted salted caramels, and learned a bit more about the magic behind chocolate making. Chocolate-smudged fingers and smiles set the tone for the fun that followed.
Creativity bloomed next as our friends from Picasso & Wine led a Paint and Sip session. Each guest painted their own take on a dandelion clock. The results were vibrant, playful, and as unique as the guests who created them.

Of course, the margaritas lived up to their promise. El Sativo Tequila poured a trio of flavors that delighted the crowd: a refreshing watermelon margarita, a bright and tropical pineapple margarita, and the bold Inigo Montoya, a drink that carried as much character as its name. Mocktails were served alongside, ensuring everyone could enjoy a glass filled with flavor and fun.

Throughout the evening, light bites kept the energy high. Carrot cake bites, gluten free pretzels, and colorful fruit skewers gave guests something to nibble between painting, sipping, and laughing. A bit of summer rain rolled in, but it did nothing to slow the evening. Instead, it added to the cozy, connected atmosphere of a late afternoon in our hoop house and teaching kitchen.
By the end, raffle prizes were won, canvases were filled with color, the plates and glasses happily emptied. Our very first Moms & Margs sold out quickly, and it was clear why! Attendees left with more than just chocolate and art. They left with new connections, lighter spirits, and a reminder of how nourishing it can be to pause, gather, and play together.
